Just when you you thought it was safe to visit the Gulf coast, go back in the water for a swim, and maybe even eat a Gulf coast seafood dinner (BP says it’s perfectly safe now, right?) Mother Nature has the last world. British Petroleum has tried its damnedest to all but walk away from the disaster they and their contractors created last year in the Gulf of Mexico, and our government will eventually let them too if we don’t keep the pressure on them (and maybe even if we do).
What really needs to happen is for BP’s assets to be frozen, sold off, and the proceeds divided among every man, woman, and child living within 500 miles of that coastline. After that we should do the same with the banks on Wall Street that had a hand in mucking up the world economy over the last few years, and divide that loot among ALL of the American people. That would certainly jump start the economy now wouldn’t it.
…and then they should give us all free health care, stop the drug war, implement equal rights under the law for both rich and poor, and, finally, admit that all those UFO’s were really just flying pigs.
Not that I disagree with you. Just a little far fetched. But, hey, don’t let my cynicism stop anyone.
